Find Your Dream Job

About the book
“More than 70,000 people spent part of Christmas or Boxing Day surfing for a new employer in an attempt to beat the competition…most persuade themselves to stay in unfulfilling roles because of fear”
Nearly one in three of us claim to be unhappy at work. Indeed, British workers spend an average 25 minutes each day chatting to friends, daydreaming, web-surfing and looking for other jobs, and this costs their employers £40 million a year.
So why do we stay in work we dread, that deadens our spirit and depletes our energy? Fear, the agony of the “comfort zone”, duty, familiarity or the anxiety of not knowing what it is you want to do next – are just some excuses.
We’ve all been there. But the good news is there is a way out. You can find employment that excites you, that plays to your strengths, that makes a difference and you can’t believe you get paid to do it too.
Find Your Dream Job is a collection of stories of real people who, like you, thought “is this all there is?” and then took small baby steps to achieving a career that fulfills and engages them.
Meet Patrick who went from working solo in a grey office to getting out and about on a tractor in his pursuit of his dream – being a wine merchant. There’s money magnet Deborah who gave up drama to launch her own organic beauty product range (courted by Theo Paphides). Andy, finally left his admin job (after twenty tortuous years) to find success as a freelance food writer.
No more crossing fingers, no more drifting, no more excuses.
Throughout the book your coach, Carole Ann Rice, supplies highly effective step by step coaching tools to hold your hand as you start and then provide the rocket fuel to propel you through the highs and lows of going from floor to soar.

The Authors

Sarah Wade began her working life cleaning men’s toilets. A stint TEFL teaching abroad introduced her to the World Service and laid the foundations for a career in radio back in the UK. Now she is a BBC Producer and recently her search for stories has spilled into a spare-time obsession talking to ordinary people who have gone to extraordinary lengths to find work that they love.
“When I hear about transitions from an unutterably dull job to something great I become obsessed with finding out how they did it – I am fascinated by the process of change.”

Carole Ann Rice is a high profile journalist and life coach who has written for many of the nationals from The Sun to Red magazine. But it has not always been this way. She has had more than her share of dead end jobs from door to door selling to death by admin. She changed her life around when she trained to become a coach.
“I can’t believe I get paid for doing what I do; helping people lead happier more powerful lives. If you’d told me that in my days straightening paper clips in windowless offices I would’ve believed pigs could fly”.

Alasdair Henderson, Statistician, LondonSome good news for you Carole Ann. I leave my old job on Friday to start at a new private equity firm. This is in no small part due to your inspiration and support.
It was scary to make the leap but I've done it and in the process have hurled out 9.5 years of collected rubbish which was tremendously liberating. I will also complete the Iron Man race in August. They were good coaching sessions.
